Heat Wave

I think we all survived the heat wave this week! Remy found his spot in front of the fan! It was a hot one, so though we had ideas for some outdoor activities, we decided to stay close to home this week and weekend and get some things done instead. Heidi and Lucy have been doing chores around the house, up and beyond their normal ones to earn money. Heidi especially has taken on some bigger projects as she said she just wants to earn as much as she can while she has the time.

Heidi and I also went dress shopping for senior pictures. We are hopefully doing a mini shoot in Omaha with Aunt Christina and then we are also shooting in Cleveland later this fall. I think Heidi found some pretty cool dresses so far!

It wouldn't be shopping unless you try on some random stuff too!

We escaped for some much needed ice cream as well.

Saturday night ended up being family game night again. We bought a few new games and had lots of fun.

Heidi won in the arm wrestling contest.

It was a lovely weekend and I'm looking forward to the 4th!

Happy Birthday Chris

Happy Birthday Chris! The week started interesting as Wednesday evening we had a nasty storm roll through. I don't think they ever officially said there was a tornado in our area, but we had 80+ mph winds, lots of rain, A LOT of the rain, and we lost power for about 14 hours. Of course during all of this, Chris was out of town for work, but the ladies of the house managed! We saved food from our fridge, I babysat our overworked sump pump, and we did our best to figure out ways to charge phones!

We have many huge broken trees around of area now and a lot of clean up effort, but our yard is ok! We hung out in the basement for most of the night before going to bed in hope the power would turn back on. Lucy was scared, so she slept with me and I think she enjoyed the bigger bed - ha!

Right before losing power...

I think she is comfy!

Luckily, right when I thought we would have to throw away everything in our fridge and worried about the heat wave coming, the power was restored! I luckily had a four day weekend, so we got into birthday prep mode as Chris was getting back home Thursday night. I tried to bake a cake and Lucy made cake balls and Heidi got Chris all his favorite things.

On his actual birthday - we tried to go golfing, but all the golf courses were still shut down from the storm. We even tired to go to a driving range and they were shut down too since the balls are embedded from the ground being so soft. After trying to figure out what to do, we ended up going to play shuffleboard. It was fun! I have never played this version of shuffleboard and it was easy for all of us.

Then it was off to get some delicious food from one of Chris' favorite places Asian Plum.

Then all he wanted to do was play games. We played card games, board games and even had a "water" pong play off tournament. I won, for the record. It was Chris and I in the finals and I won. hehe

I didn't take any pictures on Sunday, but I made a big dinner for Chris and we just relaxed. Another birthday in the books!

Happy Father's Day

Chris asked for a charcuterie board and the girls delivered! Happy Father's Day! This week had been very busy for all of us and we were looking forward to a more low-key weekend for sure. Chris said he wanted to relax, play some games and have a variety of food, which was achieved.

On a funny note, Saturday we all went to breakfast, ran some errands and we're all relaxing around the house. Chris joked that just us two should go out and have a drink and see if the girls noticed we were gone. We did. For 2 hours. They didn't notice. Heidi swears she did but I don't believe her. hahaha

There has been a lot of volleyball in our backyard. Heidi actually has been willing to help Lucy improve, which has been fun to watch.

I left my phone on the counter and found these lovely selfies :)

Chris is getting into the volleyball action too.

I think Chris had a lovely Father's Day Weekend. He does get two weekend's in a row with his birthday next weekend!

Lucy had her 2 year check up with her heart and it went great. They ran a bunch of tests and the conclusion is her heart is actually improving. There are some areas we will continue to monitor but as the doctor said - we have hit the boring part of monitoring, which is great news. Lucy continues to be cleared to do whatever and is a happy healthy girl!

Had to share these - Lucy made her father's day card and specifically picked out these photos to add... Love it!

Bring on Chris' birthday!
