Happy Birthday Chris! The week started interesting as Wednesday evening we had a nasty storm roll through. I don't think they ever officially said there was a tornado in our area, but we had 80+ mph winds, lots of rain, A LOT of the rain, and we lost power for about 14 hours. Of course during all of this, Chris was out of town for work, but the ladies of the house managed! We saved food from our fridge, I babysat our overworked sump pump, and we did our best to figure out ways to charge phones!
We have many huge broken trees around of area now and a lot of clean up effort, but our yard is ok! We hung out in the basement for most of the night before going to bed in hope the power would turn back on. Lucy was scared, so she slept with me and I think she enjoyed the bigger bed - ha!
Right before losing power...
I think she is comfy!
Luckily, right when I thought we would have to throw away everything in our fridge and worried about the heat wave coming, the power was restored! I luckily had a four day weekend, so we got into birthday prep mode as Chris was getting back home Thursday night. I tried to bake a cake and Lucy made cake balls and Heidi got Chris all his favorite things.
On his actual birthday - we tried to go golfing, but all the golf courses were still shut down from the storm. We even tired to go to a driving range and they were shut down too since the balls are embedded from the ground being so soft. After trying to figure out what to do, we ended up going to play shuffleboard. It was fun! I have never played this version of shuffleboard and it was easy for all of us.
Then it was off to get some delicious food from one of Chris' favorite places Asian Plum.
Then all he wanted to do was play games. We played card games, board games and even had a "water" pong play off tournament. I won, for the record. It was Chris and I in the finals and I won. hehe
I didn't take any pictures on Sunday, but I made a big dinner for Chris and we just relaxed. Another birthday in the books!
