We had a very busy but great week. First we received some photos from pucks & paws. I was bribing the dogs with popcorn to try to look towards the camera :)
Heidi had a random day off school and she decided to clean her car. I find it funny as she is wearing a pool floaty because it is still senior assassin and she doesn't want to get out! As long as they are wearing goggles or a pool floaty - they can't get out and Heidi wants the money!
Chris was in Houston all week for work enjoying BBQ, the rodeo, a concert and more - he said while it was fun - too little of sleep!
Heidi and I are trying to find the right shoes for her prom dress and she forgot her goggles and pool floaty at home - so we made a quick stop at 5 below to pick up some protection. She was using my phone as a mirror and I had to take some pictures - ha.
Remy after his weekly bath. It keeps his skin looking great but he hates them. Treats help.
Heidi making the school instagram again.
Then the weekend was kind of crazy... We have had crazy winds the last few days and it even knocked out power around here. We were up at 4am to drive to Pennsylvania for a volleyball tournament and we forced Heidi to come too!
Driving there, there were lots of signs of wind damage and power out. Some spots were so dark, it was eerie and then other places it is like the power outage caused weird pulsing of the lights. It was hard to drive through with the strobe lights. After we made it to the place (University of Pennsylvania - Edinboro) - we parked and waited...and waited...and waited. Finally we were able to find someone from the University and it turns out they lost power and the place we were going to play (a giant dome) didn't have heat and was 40 degrees inside with ice patches on the courts. Even with the power turned back on - the facility guy knew this dome wouldn't be a reasonable temp that day. We waited around as the coaches and the university were trying to figure out how to still have this tournament.
After about 2 hours and some teams volunteered to leave the tournament - they found random courts around the campus. We were in some Physical Education building on campus, some were in the basement of the student union and some other places. It was kind of crazy, but honestly, the gym was very spacious that we were in. It was just our pool teams and it turned out ok. It kind of felt like playing at a high school, but we survived. I personally will always prefer the ability to bring our own chairs vs. being in bleachers.
Lucy's team played okay. It was probably the roughest tournament we have been to for the team. They were just kind of off, not communicating, and lots of mistakes. It happens. I swear any March tournament is just jinxed for volleyball. I was proud of Lucy as she also started a little rough, but reset and ended up playing well at the end. That's the most we can ask for - how you handle it when it goes not as expected. The team ended with some real close sets but I think everyone was happy to leave after such a crazy start.
We were waiting for all the other pools to finish before finding out if we had to switch courts etc. We got lucky and didn't have to leave PLUS it gave them a much needed break - complete with a long volleyball peppering session with Heidi. We could watch these two pass the ball back and forth for a long time. Heidi won't be able to come to any more tournaments for Lucy, so we wanted to make sure she came to one more.
Another busy week this week and before we know it, it will be Spring Break!
