Happy 2013 & The Mystery of Lucy

Happy 2013 - I'm finally trying to post something! Our life is chaotic and my new years resolution is to get back into a routine - with EVERYTHING! From bedtime to working out to cleaning to everything!

First off, our wonderful neighbors invited us over for NYE - which was perfect. We just planned to try a bunch of different cocktails and well - now we had some more people to try with us. Heidi of course LOVES to play with them - so we were all happy! We brought the bar with us... good use of my 31 bags. :) We all had a good time, well except Lucy. She is a mystery and I think this time was just over tired. Fussy little girl!

Luckily our neighbors are good sports and the sound of a crying baby didn't bother them too much :) After a lot of rocking and bouncing - we did get her to sleep for a little bit...yes - in a toy dump truck. She loves loud noises and I think the sound of us playing Foosball and the fact the truck was a perfect bed - it worked. In the end she didn't REALLY end up going to sleep until 2am. yikes! Heidi also stayed up and was WAY too comfortable. I have a feeling we have a night owl on our hands!

Heidi wanted to make sure she wore her new cool outfit over to the neighbors with her hat!

I put Lucy in her new - snowsuit/thingy - she must have felt comfortable and fell asleep...

It was a good night and we had a lot of fun. Its our turn to host them over here...now if my house didn't look like a hoarders house...

Skip forward to this past weekend. We tried to run errands and get things back to normal. I have discovered these awesome vinyl wall stickers at Target. They come in all sorts of characters etc. We already got Heidi Sponge Bob ones for Christmas and decided Lucy's room need some color. Lucy starred at each one for a long time!

And like Heidi's room needed more color - but she wanted some sesame street ones too. I like waking her up in the morning and seeing where she moves them too.

Now the mystery of Lucy...this kiddo... She will just not sleep at night. Its like she will sleep for a short period of time - like maybe 2 hours and wake up - either for her pacifier or to eat. In the beginning - she was sleeping great - but after she got sick and has had this SAME cold, she just can't seem to get through the night. First, she was fussy for a good portion of the day. We finally decided that was tied to maybe what was in my milk. So we moved to 100% formula and that seemed to help.

Then we tried rice cereal and she would wake up SOOO angry in the middle of the night. So we pulled her off that and that seemed to help.

She doesn't spit up all but MAYBE once a week...maybe. She is now regular and poops a couple times a day. I don't think its the formula, but who knows...

I was brainstorming with my neighbor and she suggested doing a strict schedule. So starting on the 1st, we did a strict schedule, as much as we could. I watched the time more closely - tried to put her down for naps before she was overally tired etc. The one thing for sure we have been sticking to is starting bedtime routine right at 7pm so the latest she is bathed and fed is by 7:15. The first night, she got up 9 times. 9. Second night, 3 times - big improvement. Third night - she only got up once! So she CAN do it! Fourth night, 3 times - which one of the times was because Heidi was running and screaming down the hallway. But then Saturday night, she went to bed fine but woke up at 10:30 and was inconsolable until 12:30. We changed nothing! Urg!

She wasn't herself Sunday - she slept a ton and had a low fever. Last night she woke up 5 times. So we will see how she does tonight. She snores a ton and also sometimes sweats, which I have an inquiry into the doctor. She also coughs some. The doc thinks she is still fighting a cold and will be fighting it until her immune system is stronger. But this mom needs some sleep! :)

I do feel like the days and evenings have been better - less of - what can we do to have Lucy NOT cry - to more of - lets just play and have happy Lucy. If we could just get her consistent on sleeping! I think this next weekend, we will try rice cereal again and if she has the same issues as before - forget it! I do know worse case, you can skip cereal and go to veggies. We might just have to do that!

Heidi was such a good sleeper - it makes sense Lucy wouldn't be one! Lucy is truly opposite of Heidi. Little things like - Heidi never paid attention to the TV or my phone - Lucy LOVES watching screens. Heidi never wanted to be facing outwards in the baby bjorn carrier. Lucy gets mad if I have her in, wants to be out so she can see. Heidi was obsessed with watching the dogs. Lucy gets mad if they are blocking her view. hehe. I could go on and on...

During the day - she is really a fun kiddo (makes up for the lack of sleep). She is getting stronger and stronger and really interacting with us. We are at the point of everything goes into her mouth - and yes, I have pondered the thought that maybe she is teething. But they said it should affect her for a few nights/days - not months...

*sigh* We are just going to keep up on the routine and hopefully things straighten out! Chris and I are going to Vegas in April for our wedding anniversary - I keep joking with him - I'm just going to sleep. :)

So back to our chaotic life - we are also very much behind on laundry... so I enlisted Heidi's help and we thought it was a good way to wake Chris up from a nap...

It was just pajama day on Sunday...

Back to Sponge Bob...
Time for bed!
